The touchpanel includes ten “quick” pushbuttons, five on each side of the LCD
screen. These buttons are used to access any frequently used commands. Each button
has a permanently fixed digital join number. The sequence of digital join numbers is
(top to bottom) 1 through 5 on the left side and 6 through 10 on the right side. The
default feedback definition for these joins is “momentary.”

NOTE: A user may not want the LCD screen to come on after a pushbutton is
pressed when the unit is off. The Startup Preference option allows the user to select
whether the panel’s display comes on or stays off after a pushbutton is pressed. For
more information, refer to “Startup Preference” on page 9 for details.

NOTE: Assuming that the touchpanel is powered down, pressing a “quick”
pushbutton once “wakes up” the touchpanel but no command is sent. A second
button press sends the command. However, if the touchpanel is actually in standby
mode, the panel is “awake” and the initial button press sends the command.

NOTE: If you wish to change the feedback definition for one of these buttons,
create another button on a page, assign the digital join, and set the definition as
desired (e.g., toggle, interlock, etc.). Use SIMPL Windows to assign the join
numbers to specific functions (e.g., power, volume). The buttons can be used to
accomplish screen changes (page flips) by assigning the join numbers to the desired
pages using Page Properties in VT Pro-e. Refer also to “Virtual Feedback” on Page
22.

NOTE: In versions of VT Pro-e prior to 2.5, if you wish to use “quick” pushbuttons
1-10, you must make a new page and draw buttons with join numbers 1-10.
