HDMI Audio

Default setting: On

If you are using the display device’s inbuilt
loudspeakers for audio playback, set to O

On

n.

This setting will output a stereo digital signal (SPDIF)
to the display device via the HDMI connector. If the
source material is multi-channel, a stereo down-mix
will be provided at the HDMI and SPDIF outputs.

digital audio outputs (SPDIF, TOSLINK and HDMI
itself) will provide stereo only – i.e. digital surround
sound will be unavailable on these outputs. Analogue
outputs are unaffected.

If you are using the UNIDISK SC’s digital outputs to provide surround sound to other
devices, set to O

Offff.

Colour Format

Default setting: RGB

Select the option that best suits your display device –
i.e. the one that provides the best picture quality.
Different display devices process the colour format
signal in different ways so what is best for one device
may not be best for another. Either consult your
display device’s user manual or alternatively try each
of the available options and select the best one.
Note – some options may not be available, depending
on the data that is retrieved from the display device’s
EDID (see below).

Progressive Scan Setup

The two items below refer to the UNIDISK SC’s component outputs (i.e. the TV SCART
output on the SCART version, the YPrPb outputs on the Phono version), whether they
are outputting an interlaced or progressive signal.

Dither

Default setting: Off

On display devices with limited colour depth (e.g. LCD
panels) bands of colour shade may be seen, rather than
smooth transitions in colour shade.
Setting to On, reduces such colour banding.

Video Detection

Default setting: Auto

The setting for this option is dependent on the method
that was used to record the original video source
material.
If the source material was recorded on film (e.g. most
movies), set to Progressive.
If the source material was recorded on video tape (e.g.
most television programmes), set to Interlaced.
If you want the UNIDISK SC to determine the setting
based on the information contained on the disc being
played, set to Auto.

Note:
You may sometimes find that when set to Auto the screen image flickers. In this case
choose whichever of the other two settings provides the better picture.
