RDS Radio Functions

Your audio system is equipped with a

Radio Data System (RDS). RDS fea-

tures are available for use only on FM

stations that broadcast RDS information.

RDS relies on receiving specific informa-

tion from these stations and will work

only when the information is available.

With RDS, the radio can:

• Seek stations broadcasting the type

of programming you select. Press the

CAT button and turn the Tune knob to

select the desired category. Press

SEEK to search for the category

selected.

• Receive announcements concerning

local and national emergencies

• Display messages from radio stations

• Seek stations with traffic

announcements

When you tune to an RDS station, the

station name and call letters will appear

on the display along with the frequency.

RDS stations may also provide the time

of day, a program type (PTY) for current

programming and the name of the pro-

gram being broadcast.

To view the RDS time, if available, press

and hold the hour (H) and minute (M)

buttons.

RDS Messages

When using RDS, the following mes-

sages may appear on your vehicle’s

audio system display:

ALERT!: Alert warns of local or national

emergencies. You will hear the

announcement, even if the volume is

muted or a CD is playing. You will not be

able to turn off Alert announcements.
