Symptom
Action
Not
all
drives
are
recognized
by
the
hard
disk
drive
diagnostic
test
(the
Fixed
Disk
test).
Remove
the
drive
that
is
indicated
by
the
diagnostic
tests;
then,
run
the
hard
disk
drive
diagnostic
test
again.
If
the
remaining
drives
are
recognized,
replace
the
drive
that
you
removed
with
a
new
one.
The
server
stops
responding
during
the
hard
disk
drive
diagnostic
test.
Remove
the
hard
disk
drive
that
was
being
tested
when
the
server
stopped
responding,
and
run
the
diagnostic
test
again.
If
the
hard
disk
drive
diagnostic
test
runs
successfully,
replace
the
drive
that
you
removed
with
a
new
one.
A
hard
disk
drive
was
not
detected
while
the
operating
system
was
being
started.
Reseat
all
hard
disk
drives
and
cables;
then,
run
the
hard
disk
drive
diagnostic
tests
again.
A
hard
disk
drive
passes
the
diagnostic
Fixed
Disk
Test,
but
the
problem
remains.
Run
the
diagnostic
SCSI
Attached
Disk
Test.

A
problem
occurs
only
occasionally
and
is
difficult
to
diagnose.

Make
sure
that:

All
cables
and
cords
are
connected
securely
to
the
rear
of
the
server
and
attached
devices.
Attention:
In
a
dc
power
environment,
only
trained
service
personnel
other
than
Lenovo
service
technicians
are
authorized
to
connect
or
disconnect
power
to
the
dc
power
supply.
See
the
documentation
that
comes
with
each
dc
power
supply.

When
the
server
is
turned
on,
air
is
flowing
from
the
fan
grille.
If
there
is
no
airflow,
the
fans
are
not
working.
This
can
cause
the
server
to
overheat
and
shut
down.
