2. When setting up your Internet account for the first time,

select GU87 as the connecting modem device.

For additional details, contact your ISP. For help
using Windows Dial Up Networking, search
Windows Help (Start>Help).

TO TEST THE INFRARED CONNECTION
Verify that your GU87 and your PC are properly connected.
Note: The following steps describe Windows standard
communication software (HyperTerminal).
1. On your PC, select Start > Programs > Accessories >

Communications > HyperTerminal.

2. Double click on HyperTerminal.
3. In the Connection Description dialog box, enter desired

name in the Name field and click OK.

4. In the Phone Number dialog box, select the country/

region code, enter your ISP’s phone number and
confirm that GU87 is selected in the “Connect using”
box. Click OK.

5. When the connect dialogue box displays, click Cancel.
6. Select File > properties and verify that GU87 is

selected. Click OK.

7. In the HyperTerminal window, type AT+CGMI and click.

If GU87 has successfully connected, you will
receive an OK reply.

CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET
1.
On your PC, select Start > Programs > Accessories >

Communications > HyperTerminal.

2. Click on HyperTerminal.
3. On your phone, in the Tools & Set Time Menu, scroll to

Infrared Port, press

, scroll to Connect Modem,

press .

4. On your PC, when “Ready for Communication”

displays, enter AT command in HyperTerminal screen.

Enter phone number to connect to for Circuit
Switching. Use the dedicated phone number for
Packet connection.
