Connecting a Decoder

Decoder here refers to the device used to decode scrambled
broadcasts (Pay TV).

(1) Decoder (not supplied)
(2) 21-pin Scart socket
(3) 21-pin Scart cable (not supplied)

Connect a 21-pin Scart cable (not supplied) to the AV2 21-
pin Scart socket on the unit and to the 21-pin Scart socket
on the decoder.

Connect the decoder’s mains lead to an AC mains socket.

Set “AV2 Connection” to “DECODER”. (page 57)

≥If you connect an other equipment with RGB output capability to

the AV2 socket on this unit, the output signal of the equipment
must be set to RGB when you have set “AV2 Input” to “RGB (PAL
only)”.

AV Link Function (For Continental Europe)

If the unit is connected to the TV via a 21-pin Scart cable, you can
use the [AV LINK] button

(33) to switch the TV from normal TV

reception over to the video playback channel (AV input) (and vice
versa). In the unit mode (when the “DVD” indication in the unit
display is lit), the TV is switched to the video playback channel (AV
input). In the TV mode (when the “DVD” indication is not lit), the TV
is switched to TV reception.
AV link stops working if the “DVD” indicator appears on the display
(when you start play or show on-screen displays).

Note
[RGB] means separate Red/Green/Blue colour signals. If you
connect a TV equipped with RGB input capability to the AV1
socket on this unit, and a decoder equipped with RGB output
capability to the AV2 socket, the TV can receive RGB signal input
from the decoder via the unit.
RGB output signals only appear when the “DVD” indicator is on. To
show RGB output signals while stopped or recording, press
[AV LINK]

(33) so the “DVD” indicator lights.

Connecting a satellite receiver or digital
receiver

(1) Satellite receiver (not supplied)
(2) 21-pin Scart socket
(3) 21-pin Scart cable (not supplied)

Connect a 21-pin Scart cable (not supplied) to the AV2 21-
pin Scart socket on the unit and to the 21-pin Scart socket
on the satellite receiver.

Connect the satellite receiver’s mains lead to an AC mains
socket.

Set “AV2 Connection” to “EXT”, “Ext Link 1” or “Ext Link 2”.

≥If you connect an other equipment with RGB output capability to

the AV2 socket on this unit, the output signal of the equipment
must be set to RGB when you have set “AV2 Input” to “RGB (PAL
only)”.
