10 Gigabit small form factor pluggable
transceivers

This section describes how to install and remove 10 Gigabit Small
Form Factor Pluggable (XFP) transceivers, and lists some technical
specifications for the supported XFP models.

ATTENTION

Nortel recommends that you only use Nortel-qualified XFPs. If you do choose
to use other vendor XFPs, be aware that Nortel does not support the use of
other XFPs.

Selecting an XFP

Use an XFP transceiver to interface a device motherboard to a fiber optic
cable. Select the appropriate transceiver to provide the required reach.

Depending on the product, XFPs are available for cable
distances of up to 300 meters (m), 10 kilometers (km), 40 km,
and 80 km.
