Mounting and Cooling AR111 & AR111-LV Units

1.

The AR111 and AR111-LV modules are supplied complete with their own approved designed heat sink this as a full assembly can be fitted into a

majority of AR111 compatible light fittings.

2.

The ready-assembled units are suitable for operation in a 40°C ambient and at 700mA for the constant current unit.

3.

Always keep the heat sink fins clear and provide the unit with adequate ventilation.

1.

The PWAR and PWARD modules require an additional heat sink for full power
operation, the heat sink cooling should maintain a maximum case temperature
‘Tc’ under the worst case conditions.

2.

Thermal performance of third party heat sink designs should be confirmed by
a thermocouple temperature measurement as near to the ‘Tc’ point of the
module case.

3.

Heat sink performance required depends upon operating current, maximum
ambient expected and lifetime trade offs, for 50,000 hours lifetime, minimum
heat sink performance, see table :-

Do

1

DO make sure that the heat sink used for the module is adequate for
the operating conditions, failure to observe this could result in lower

performance, reduced life of the module or permanent damage.

2

DO observe polarity when connecting the modules to the power
source.

3

DO use the cable strain relief on the rear of the unit where possible.

4

DO allow adequate airflow and ventilation when installing the

LED modules.

Don’t

1

DO NOT use outdoors, modules are for indoor use only.

2

DO NOT cover with any insulation material that could restrict any
airflow and cooling.

3

DO NOT use cable crimps or ferrules as this can damage the

cable-clamp connectors.

4

DO NOT allow the unit to be exposed to moisture.
