Section 1: Overview

The Dialight OEM White Strobe Driver and Flash Head is designed for the
lighting of towers, flare stacks, chimneys, offshore oil platforms, petrochemical
facilities, and other obstructions to aerial navigation, as specified by the FAA and
FCC.

This design uses LED technology for light output from the White Strobe. Unlike
conventional xenon flashtube technology, little or no maintenance is required
during its lifetime. Working voltages of less than 200VDC are much lower than
those of xenon flashtube designs; therefore, this system represents an advance
in safety.

Only the Flash Head is Certified to Class I, Division 2 rating. The Power supply
and subcomponents are NOT Class I, Division 2 certified. The power supply
must be installed in a safe, non-classified location.

A high level of functionality and versatility is provided by the Driver module. Not
only does it generate the required LED drive currents, but also provides:

Timing and synchronization
Fault monitoring
Dimming features
Options for night operation
Serial port configuration
Data logging

The Driver module consists of a plate on which are fixed (See Diagram):

(W1 and W2) Two White Strobe Drivers
(R)

One Red Beacon Driver

(M/F)

One Microcontroller / Filter / Protection and Interface module

(CAP)

One Capacitor module

(TB)

One Terminal Block

The system operates from a nominal 48Vdc/100W supply.

Switches on the microcontroller board allow various options as to how the system
operates to be selected.
