Instructions specific to hazardous area installations

(reference European ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, Annex II, 1.0.6.)

The following instructions apply to equipment covered by certificate number Sira 06ATEX4372X:

1. The equipment may be used with flammable gases and vapours with apparatus groups IIA, IIB and IIC and with

temperature classes T1, T2, T3 and T4.

2. The equipment is certified category 3G
3. The equipment is only certified for use in ambient temperatures in the range -55oC to +55oC and should not be

used outside this range

4. The certificate number has an ‘X’ suffix which indicates that special conditions of installation and use apply.

Those installing or inspecting this equipment must have access to the contents of the certificate. However the
special condition is repeated below: -


Special Condition for Safe Use

5. As aluminium is used at the accessible surface of this equipment, ignition sources due to impact and friction

sparks could occur. This shall be considered when the L810 beacon is being installed.

6. Installation shall be carried out in accordance with the applicable code of practice by suitably-trained personnel.
7. Repair of this equipment is not possible.
8. If the equipment is likely to come into contact with aggressive substances, then it is the responsibility of the user

to take suitable precautions that prevent it from being adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of protection
is not compromised.

a. Aggressive substances -

e.g. acidic liquids or gases that may attack metals, or solvents that may

affect polymeric materials

b. Suitable precautions

e.g. regular checks as part of routine inspections or establishing from the

material’s data sheet that it is resistant to specific chemicals

9. There are no special checking or maintenance conditions other than a periodic check, however removing the

security seal will invalidate the warrantee.
