Port table
This table appears when you select an icon under the Fibre folder in the Package tree.
If you select a channel adapter in the tree, this table displays all ports on the channel adapter.
If you select a port block, this table displays all ports in the port block.
The table lists the following for Fibre Channel CHA packages:
• Port Name: Displays port names
• Type: Fibre indicates a Fibre Channel port, used for connecting open system hosts. MF-Serial indicates
an ESCON ® port, used for connecting mainframe hosts.
• Host Speed: Specifies the data transfer speed for Fibre Channel ports. If Auto is selected, the disk array
automatically sets the data transfer speed to 1 GB/sec or 2 GB/sec.
• Addr (Loop ID): Displays addresses of ports. You can change port addresses.
• Fabric: Specify ON if a fabric switch is used, or OFF if no fabric switch is used
• Connection: Specifies the topology. The default is FC-AL. Some fabric switches require you to specify
point-to-point topology. Check the switch’s documentation.
• Attribute: Indicates whether the port is an initiator port, target port, RCU target port, or external port
• WWN: Displays WWNs of ports.
Change Port Mode box
This is displayed when you select an icon under the Fibre folder in the Package tree.
Use this box to change information in the Port table.
Setting the Fibre Channel Topology
1. Start LUN Manager, and display the LUN Manager pane ( Figure 7 ).
2. In the Port table or the Select a Port list, select a Fibre Channel port.
3. If a fabric switch is used, select ON in the Fabric list in the Mode area. If a fabric switch is not used,
select OFF in the Fabric list.
4. In the Connection list, select FC-AL or P-to-P.
If a fabric switch is used, consult the switch documentation to check if it requires point-to-point topology.
5. Click Set. A confirmation message appears.
6. Click OK. The settings are applied to the Port table (shown in blue), but not to the disk array.
7. Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.
8. Click OK. The settings are applied to the disk array.
Setting Fibre Channel Port Addresses
1. Start LUN Manager, and display the LUN Manager pane ( Figure 7 ).
2. In the Port table or the Select a Port list, select a Fibre Channel port.
3. In the Fibre Address list in the Mode area, select an address.
4. Click Set. A confirmation message appears.
5. Click OK. The settings are applied to the Port table (shown in blue), but not to the disk array.
6. Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.
7. Click OK. The settings are applied to the disk array.
Setting the Data Transfer Speed
1. Start LUN Manager, and display the LUN Manager pane ( Figure 7 ).
2. In the Port table or the Select a Port list, select a Fibre Channel port.
3. In the Host Speed list in the Mode area, select a data transfer speed.
4. Click Set. A confirmation message appears.
5. Click OK. The settings are applied to the Port table (shown in blue), but not to the disk array.
