Managing Logical Targets

Deleting a Logical Target

To remove a logical target, its profile information, and all its associated software
revisions from DSM/SCM:

1. Delete the logical target from the host, using the Planner Interface:

a. From the Configuration Revisions window, select a configuration revision.

b. Select Maintain>Target maintenance>Delete....

Although the logical target no longer appears in the Configuration Revisions
window at this point, the logical target is not yet deleted from the target system
itself.

2. Delete the logical target from the target system:

a. Check that ZDSMSCM is the current subvolume, then run the ZPHITI:

> VOLUME $volume.ZDSMSCM

> RUN ZPHITI

b. Log on to the ZPHITI.

c.

Select 3 (Perform target activities); then press F1.

d. Select a target; then press F1.

e. Note the SYSnn displayed at the top of the screen.

f.

Press Shift-F16 to exit the ZPHITI.

g. Purge the entire SYSnn or purge only the ZPHI6030 file in this SYSnn.

h. Run Verify Database from the ZPHITI. See

Verifying the Target System

Database (ZPHITI)

on page 17-18.

Note. A physical target system must have at least one logical target. Therefore, you cannot
delete the last logical target using the Planner Interface. To remove an entire target system,
use the System Maintenance option in the Maintenance Interface.

If you delete a logical target through the Maintenance Interface, the target still appears in the
Configuration Revisions window but has a revision level of 1 and an empty product list.

Note. If you purge only the ZPHI6030 file from a currently running SYSnn and Verify Database
is run, files in the SYSnn are not purged. All TSVs remain but are not managed by DSM/SCM.
