Continuous Access Journal

Continuous Access Journal volumes can be assigned to Business Copy pairs, and Business Copy volumes

can be assigned to Continuous Access Journal pairs.
Business Copy and Continuous Access Journal can function together in the same storage system to

provide both internal and remote backup for your important data.

Notes:

A primary volume (P-VOL) of Continuous Access Journal means a primary data volume of

Continuous Access Journal. A secondary volume (S-VOL) of Continuous Access Journal means a

secondary data volume of Continuous Access Journal.

Combination of Business Copy L1 and L2 pairs with Continuous Access Journal volumes is

allowed. Node volumes and leaf volumes are both considered secondary volumes (S-VOLs) by

Continuous Access Journal.

The configuration shown in

Figure 14

on page 34 is an example of a volume that is functioning as both a

Continuous Access Journal P-VOL and a Business Copy P-VOL. This configuration allows:

On-site backup copies of Continuous Access Journal P-VOLs

Remote backup copies of Business Copy P-VOLs

The configuration shown in

on page 35 is an example of a volume that is functioning as both

a Continuous Access Journal S-VOL and a Business Copy P-VOL. This configuration allows you to use

Business Copy to provide remote copies of Continuous Access Journal S-VOLs.
