4 Preparing for XRC for Mainframe
Operations
System Configuration
To perform XRC for Mainframe operations, you need the storage system, XP Remote Web Console
computers, and the XRC for Mainframe program product.
Installing the Software
The XRC for Mainframe program product must be installed on the storage system at the primary site.
For detailed information about how to install XRC for Mainframe, see the HP StorageWorks XP Remote

Starting XRC for Mainframe
When you use your XP Remote Web Console computer and log in to the storage system, the XP
Remote Web Console main panel appears. To use XRC for Mainframe, you must use the XP Remote
Web Console main panel to open the XRC Option panel.
To open the XRC Option panel:
1. Enter the URL of the primary SVP into the web browser to access the primary SVP.
2. From the Storage Device List panel, select the storage system that you want to log in.
3. Enter the user ID and the password and then select OK. The XP Remote Web Console main panel
appears.

In the XP Remote Web Console main panel, select the Mainframe Connection button ( ), and
then select the XRC tab.
NOTE:
When you display the XP Remote Web Console main panel for the first time, the panel is
in View mode. To perform XRC for Mainframe operations, you must ensure that the panel
is in Modify mode. For detailed information about how to change the mode to Modify, see
the
HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console user guide.
