Step 1: Remove the access panel from the
inside of the tailgate. (You may have to remove
the bed liner cover if applicable) Remove the
latch rods from the factory handle by rotating of
the plastic rod clips and pulling the rods up and
out of the clips. Remove the handle mounting
bolts from the factory handle. Remove the
handle from the tailgate.
Step 2: If your handle has the gasket running
up the middle of the handle as shown below, cut
the gasket away in this area to allow for the sup-
plied bracket to sit flush to the plastic of the han-
dle. Cut the gasket where the lines are shown
below and remove that portion of the gasket.
Step 3: Install the supplied support bracket as
shown below using the factory bolts to hold the
bracket in place. Using the holes in the bracket
as a template drill through the plastic bezel using
a 4mm drill bit. The arrows below point to the
holes to be drilled.
Step 4: Install the lock assembly from the front of the
handle putting the treaded studs through 4mm holes that
were just drilled (make sure the lock assemble is in the
unlock position when installing). Install the 2-4mm
washer and nuts on the studs and tighten. Now remove
the factory mounting bolts that were used to temporally
hold the bracket in place.
Step 5: Clean the area under the handle
where the striker plate will be adhered with
the provided alcohol wipe. Peel red back-
ing of the 3M tape that is attached to the
striker plate and install on the handle as
shown below *noting the slot and bend po-
