Appendix F. MD485 to CC640 Digital
Camera

The MD485 is used with the CC640 Digital Camera when the distance between
the datalogger is greater than 25 ft. MD485 to CC640 communications is only
supported with PakBus networking.

Hardware Requirements

a. MD485
b. CC640 Digital Camera
c. SC12 cable (one included with each MD485)
d. CABLE5CBL-L 5-conductor cable with shield and Santoprene jacket

MD485 Configuration

a. Active Ports – CS I/O and RS-485
b. Communication Mode – PakBus Networking
c. CS I/O Port Configuration – SDC7 or SDC8
d. RS-485 Port Configuration – Desired baud rate

CC640 Configuration

The camera is configured using DevConfig.

a. PakBus Port – RS-485
b. PakBus Address –set to a unique value in the PakBus network
c. PakBus Destination Address – the datalogger’s PakBus address
d. RS-485 BAUD rate – this baud rate must match the MD485’s baud rate

All other parameters may use the defaults (see CC640 manual for more
information).

Hardware

The MD485 connects to the datalogger via the SC12 cable. Connect the
CABLE5CBL 5-conductor cable to the RS-485 port on the MD485. Connect
the other end of the CABLE5CBL cable to the terminal block on the camera.
