Appendix B: Safety Instructions
Follow the safety precautions in this document when installing and operating the PM IPDU.
Safety Instructions
Read all the following safety guidelines to protect yourself and your Cyclades PM.
DANGER! All outlets of the PM IPDU output high voltage. Necessary precautions should be taken.
DANGER! To help prevent electric shock, plug the PM IPDU into a properly grounded power source. The power
cord is equipped with a three-prong plug to help ensure proper grounding. Do not use adaptor plugs or remove
the grounding prong from the cable. Do not use extension cords with the PM IPDU.
DANGER! Do not push any objects through the openings of the PM IPDU. Doing so may cause fire or electric
shock by shorting out interior components.
DANGER! There is a possibility of severe electrical shock from either the live or neutral side of any of the power
outlets or their wiring, even if one of the circuit breakers is disabled.
IMPORTANT: PM IPDU is intended for enterprise and indoor use only.
IMPORTANT: To help protect the PM IPDU from electrical power fluctuations, use a surge suppressor, line
conditioner, or uninterruptible power supply.
IMPORTANT: Be sure that nothing rests on the cables of the PM IPDU and that they are not located where they
may be stepped on or tripped over.
IMPORTANT: Do not spill food or liquids on the PM IPDU. If it gets wet, disconnect the power immediately and
contact Avocent.
IMPORTANT: Keep your PM IPDU away from heat sources.

GEFAHR! Alle Ausgänge des PM IPDU führen Hochspannung. Bitte die erforderlichen Vorsichtsmaßnahmen
einhalten.
GEFAHR! Um elektrische Stromschläge zu vermeiden, verbinden Sie bitte das Eingangskabel des PM IPDU mit
einer ausreichend geerdeten Stromversorgung. Das Netzkabel ist mit drei Leitungen versehen um korrekte
Erdung zu ermöglichen. Bitte benutzen Sie keine Adapterstecker und entfernen Sie nicht die Erdungsleitung.
Bitte verwenden Sie keine Verlängerungskabel.
GEFAHR! Bitte führen Sie keine Gegenstände in die Öffnungen des PM IPDU ein. Dies könnte zu Bränden oder
elektrischen Schock durch Kurzschluss der internen Komponenten führen.
