Voice commands

For words that are usually considered acronyms (such as "IBM"), if they are

spelled in a manner other than all CAPS, they will be regarded as non-acronyms
and Voice Commands will listen for the closest pronunciation of these words as
though they were English words (e.g., "ibm" will be best recognizable as
"eebem").

Do: In your contact list, make sure acronyms are spelt using all CAPS.

Don't: For all non-acronym entries, don't use all CAPS.

Name Dialing

To use Name Dial, you’ll need to have entries stored in your Phonebook. For
information on creating Phonebook entries, see "Understanding Your Phonebook"
on page 50.

1.

Access Voice Commands by doing one of the following:

Press and hold the

key.

Press and hold the Multi-Function button on a plug-in headset or a Bluetooth

headset.

In the Fun & Apps menu, select Voice commands and press the Select

soft key or the

key.

After a brief pause, a list of optional commands displays on the screen
along with the “Say a command” message displays on the external
screen.

2.

Say “Call” followed by the first and last name of the contact that you want

to dial.

3.

The name that you said is repeated through the earpiece and your phone

dials the number.

4.

If Voice Commands is not sure of the name that you said, a list of possible

matches displays on the screen.

5.

You’re asked to confirm the correct name as Voice Commands displays the

results. Say “Yes” or “No” to confirm or reject the number when
prompted. You can also say, “Cancel” (to close Voice Commands) or
Repeat” (to restart Voice Commands) at this time.

6.

The location is repeated through the earpiece and your phone dials the

number.
