G The Zoom Button

Use the zoom button to frame photographs. Press
the end of the button labeled

(for wide angle)

to zoom out from your subject, increasing the area
visible in the final photograph. Press

(tele-

photo) to zoom in, enlarging small or distant ob-
jects to fill the frame.

When an image is displayed in full-screen review (

58) or full-frame playback

(

158), pressing

( ) zooms in on the image displayed in the monitor (

59, 159). Press

to cancel zoom. In

(playback mode) and quick review,

) to display images as small “thumbnails” that allow up to four

or nine images to be viewed simultaneously (

During movie playback, the zoom button controls playback volume (

H The Command Dial

The command dial is used for a variety of opera-
tions: to select options in the shooting menu, to
page through photo information and thumbnail
images in playback or quick review, and to set shut-
ter speed and/or aperture when shooting in User
Set 1, 2, or 3. In
