Step 3 Frame a Picture

1

Hold the camera steady.

Keep fingers, hair, the camera strap, and other objects

away from the lens, flash, AF assist-illuminator,
microphone, and speaker.

When taking pictures in portrait (“tall”) orientation, turn

the camera so that the flash is above the lens.

2

Frame the picture.

When the camera detects a human face, that face is

framed by a yellow double border (focus area) (default
setting).

Up to 12 faces can be detected. When the camera

detects more than one face, the face closest to the
camera is framed by a double border and the others by
single borders.

When shooting non-human subjects or when no faces are detected, the focus area is

not displayed. Position the main subject near the center of the frame.

C

When Using a Tripod

We recommend using a tripod to stabilize the camera in the following situations.

- When shooting in dim lighting or when the flash mode (

A63) is set to W (off)

- When using the telephoto setting

Set Vibration reduction to Off in the setup menu (

A94) when using a tripod to stabilize the

camera during shooting.
