Tutorial: “Point-and-Shoot” Photography (
Take the photograph.
Smoothly press the shutter-release button the rest of the way
down to release the shutter and record the photograph. The ac-
cess lamp next to the memory card slot cover will light. Do not
eject the memory card or remove or disconnect the power source
until the lamp has gone out and recording is complete.
Camera Oﬀ Display
If the camera is turned oﬀ with a battery and memory card inserted, the
number of exposures remaining will be displayed in the control panel.
To save battery power when the ﬂ ash is not in use, return it to its closed
position by pressing it gently downward till the latch clicks into place. For
more information on using the ﬂ ash, see page 40.
The Built-in Flash
If additional lighting is required for correct exposure in mode, the built-in
ﬂ ash will pop up automatically when the shutter-release button is pressed
halfway. Flash range varies with aperture and ISO sensitivity (
move lens hoods when using the ﬂ ash. If the ﬂ ash is raised, photographs
can only be taken when the ﬂ ash-ready indicator ( ) is displayed. If the
ﬂ ash-ready indicator is not displayed, remove your ﬁ nger brieﬂ y from the
shutter-release button and try again.
Turn the camera oﬀ when shooting is complete.
