Press A on the player to open the disc
tray, and place a disc on the tray.

Playback starts from the first track. If you
want to start playing from a specific track,
turn . AMS > to select the track
number before pressing

Basic operations during play

Tip

If you turn on the player when a disc is already loaded,
playback starts automatically. If you connect a
commercially available timer, you can set it to start
playing the disc at any time you want.

Note

During playback, increase the volume level gradually
starting from the lowest level. The output from this
player may contain band width that is out of the normal
listening range. This may cause damage to the speakers
or ears.

Selecting the playback layer

When playing a hybrid disc with a Super Audio
CD layer and a CD layer (page 5), you can select
the layer you want to listen to. Also, since both
layers are on one side, it is not necessary to turn
the disc over.

Press SA-CD/CD to select the desired
playback layer.

Note

You can select the CD layer by pressing SA-CD/CD
for the current disc only.

To select the default playback
layer

Press MENU on the player.

Turn . AMS > until “LAYER SEL”
appears on the display.

Press . AMS >.

The current default layer appears.

Turn . AMS > to select the
desired playback layer.

Press . AMS >.

Press MENU on the player.

Selecting the playback area

When playing a disc with the 2 channel playback
area and the multi-channel playback area
(page 5), you can select the playback area you
want to listen to.

Press 2CH/MULTI to select the desired
playback area.

To select the default playback
area

Press MENU on the player.

Turn . AMS > until “M/2ch SEL”
appears on the display.

Press . AMS >.

The current default area appears.

Turn . AMS > to select the
desired playback area.

Press . AMS >.

Press MENU on the player.

Notes

• The 2 channel playback area is automatically

selected whenever you start playback because “SEL-
2ch” (2 channel playback area) is the factory setting.
Select “SEL-Mch” (multi-channel playback area)
when the ANALOG 5.1 CH OUT jacks are
connected.

• You can select the playback area by pressing 2CH/

MULTI for the current disc only.
