Connecting Optional
Equipment

For greater enjoyment of your stereo
system, you can connect other components
to the stereo. You can connect:

• an MD recorder
• a DAT deck
• a microphone
• headphones
• surround speakers
• a turntable

Connecting an MD
recorder or a DAT deck

Select one of the following two connections,
depending on the equipment to be
connected and the method of recording.

• an MD recorder or DAT deck for digital

recording

• an MD recorder or DAT deck for analog

recording

To connect an MD recorder or a DAT
deck for digital recording
You can record from the CD into the MD
recorder or DAT deck digitally.

To connect an MD recorder or a DAT
deck for analog recording
You can record from the sound sources of
the stereo into the MD recorder or DAT
deck in analog sound.
You can also listen to the sound from the
MD recorder or DAT deck by pressing the
FUNCTION button repeatedly to select
MD.

Use audio cords and make sure to connect
the plugs to jacks of the same colour.
Then press FUNCTION to select the sound
sources.

To connect other equipment with an
AU BUS connector
You can connect other Sony equipment
with AU BUS.

* You can use Automatic Source Selection,

Synchronized Recording and Timer
Recording with the connected equipment.
However, these features may not be
provided on some models.

Connecting a microphone
or headphones

You can connect a microphone (phone jack)
to the MIX MIC jack.
You can connect the headphones (stereo
phone jack) to the PHONES jack.

You can connect surround speakers to the
SURROUND SPEAKER connectors.
Press SURROUND so that “SUR

appears in the display.
You can create the atmosphere of a movie
theatre or concert hall.

You can connect a turntable to MD IN jacks.
Before you connect, check which type of
turntable you have.
