The corners of the image are dark.

Remove the filter or hood. Depending on the

thickness of the filter or improper attachment

of the hood, the filter or the hood may

partially appear in the image. The optical

properties of some lenses may cause the

periphery of the image to appear too dark

(insufficient light).

Sound is not recorded correctly.

If you connect or disconnect an external

microphone, etc. during recording movies,

sound may not be recorded correctly. Connect

the microphone again in the same way as

when you start recording movies.

No sound will be recorded if Audio Rec Level

(p. 76) is set to minimum.

Playback

Images cannot be played back.

Select the image quality of the movie you want

to play back (p. 42).

Images recorded on other devices may not be

played back. This is not a malfunction.

Photos cannot be played back.

Photos cannot be played back if you have

modified files or folders, or have edited the

data on a computer. (The file name flashes in

that case.) This is not a malfunction.

This may appear on an image recorded on

other devices, edited on a computer, etc.

You removed the AC Adaptor or the battery

pack while the memory card icon at the top

right corner of the screen flashes, or before

the access lamp is turned off after recording.

This may damage your image data and is

Check the data base file by touching

(MENU)  [Setup]  [ (

Media

Settings)]  [Repair Img. DB F.]. If it still

appears, delete the image with (p. 51).

No sound or only a quiet sound is heard

during playback.

Turn up the volume (p. 35).

Left and right sound will be heard

unbalanced when playing back movies on

computers or other devices.

This happens when sound recorded in 5.1ch

surround is converted to 2ch (normal stereo

sound) by a computer or other device. This is

not a malfunction.

Change the sound conversion type (downmix

type) when playing back on 2ch stereo devices.

Refer to the instruction manual supplied with

your playback device for details.

Change the sound to 2ch when creating a disc

using the supplied software “PlayMemories

Home.”

Record sound with [Audio Mode] set to [2ch

Stereo] (p. 75).

Playing back images stored on
memory card on other devices

Images cannot be played back or the

memory card is not recognized.
