Preparation for Use
Overview of Both Sides Adjust
For double-sided printing, correct misalignment of printing positions or magnification ratios
between front and back sides.
Since how much the paper is affected depends on the type or weight of paper, we recommend
that you perform the Both Sides Adjust after changing the paper loaded in a tray.
The following three methods are provided for the Both Sides Adjust:
• Start with pressing [Paper Setting] on the MACHINE screen or COPY screen. -> Refer to p.
1-18.
• Start with pressing [Both Sides] on the MACHINE screen.
• Register the Both Sides Adjust to a paper profile on the Utility Menu screen, and recall it
from [Paper Setting] on the MACHINE screen or COPY screen. -> Refer to p. 1-29.
The Both Sides Adjust includes the following two adjustment methods:
• Chart Adjustment -> Refer to p. 1-21.
If numerical data of misalignment between front and back sides is unknown, this method
allows you to output a chart to measure the measuring points with a scale, so that you can
enter the measured values to make an adjustment.
• Zoom/Image Shift Adjustment -> Refer to p. 1-26.
You can make fine adjustment that cannot be made by the Chart Adjustment. This method
is for the case when numerical data of misalignment between front and back sides is
known.
• Before performing the Both Sides Adjust, check the reference positions on the print
side. For the adjustments of the reference positions on the print side, refer to Sec-
tion 9 of the User’s Guide - Main Body. The adjustments of the reference positions
on the print side are advanced adjustments. Contact your service representative in
advance of the adjustments.
• Registration Loop Adjustment is provided to adjust the amount of registration loop
individually for front and back sides when the current setting cannot prevent paper
from being skewed or wrinkled. Perform this adjustment as preliminary preparation
for the Both Sides Adjust.
• The Zoom/Image Shift Adjustment of the Both Sides Adjust can be registered in a
paper profile to be recalled, along with the Registration Loop Adjustment performed
as a preliminary preparation for the Both Sides Adjust.
• The Chart Adjustment is reflected on each tray but cannot be performed for each
paper. The Chart Adjustment cannot be registered in a paper profile to be recalled.
Therefore, performing the Chart Adjustment after the Zoom/Image Shift Adjustment
may require readjustment of the Zoom/Image Shift Adjustment.
