I NSTALLING THE IDE D RIVE ( CONT ’ D )
While making sure you don’t let the
CD-ReWriter touch any electronic com-
ponents in the computer, slide the CD-
ReWriter into the half-height bay, with
the front of the CD-ReWriter visible as
shown.
Connect one end of the 40-pin IDE
cable to the IDE interface port (look for
the IDE PIN 1 label on the drive) on the
back of the CD-ReWriter.
Note: Pin 1 of the IDE cable (red stripe)
must match to IDE PIN 1 on the CD-
ReWriter.
Connect the other end of the 40-pin
IDE cable to the IDE interface port on
the PC’s motherboard, making sure pin 1
aligns with pin 1.
