Operation 4-9

4

Blinks – Jam Fault ’’’’

Description:

• An obstruction has caused the MPI-16 to stop rotating, or has severely

hindered its ability to move. The unit has been deactivated and the Interlock
has been turned off.

Action:

• Remove the obstruction and reset the MPI-16. There is no way to resume

operation from where it was stopped. If you find that this fault is occurring
without an obstruction present, the crucible is most likely too heavy for the
MPI-16 to handle.

5

Blinks – Position Fault ’’’’’

Description:

• The position of the motor, compared to the position recorded when it found

“Home,” has deviated by an unacceptable amount. The unit has been
deactivated and the Interlock has been turned off.

Action:

• Reset the MPI-16. This fault is an indication of a hardware problem, and

should only occur if your unit has become damaged. If the fault is persistent,
contact INFICON about obtaining a replacement part.

6

Blinks – Encoder Fault ’’’’’’

Description:

• The feedback signal of the encoder on your MPI-16 has delivered a faulty

signal. The unit has been deactivated and the Interlock has been turned off.

Action:

• Reset the MPI-16. This fault is an indication of a hardware problem, and

should only occur if your unit has become damaged. If the fault is persistent,
contact INFICON about obtaining a replacement part.

7

Blinks – No Home Fault ’’’’’’’

Description:

• The MPI-16 couldn’t detect the home signal.

Action:

• Reset the MPI-16. This fault is an indication of a magnet/sensor problem,

and should only occur if your unit has become damaged. If the fault is
persistent, contact INFICON about obtaining a replacement part.
