The voltage at the spark ignition control is
24V. Note that proper functioning of t h e

heater will be adversely affected if the input
voltage varies by more than +/- 10%.

WARNING: The heater must be electrically grounded in accordance with
the Canadian Electrical Code.

16. HIGH ALTITUDE INSTALLATIONS

15. ELECTRICAL AND THERMOSTAT WIRING

(SEE WIRING DIAGRAMS PAGES 23, 26, 31)

Wiring must be done in accordance with local
codes. The total load of all heaters must be
considered in determining the required
contact rating of the controlling thermostat or
switch. Each tube heater requires 120V, 60
HZ electrical power sized for 145VA.

The heater can be controlled by the Schwank
Tru-Temp Thermostat, a line voltage Ther-
mostat or by an “ON/OFF" switch. Any
heater(s) intended for 24v thermostat control
must be ordered with the 24v control op-
tions.

IMPORTANT: When the heater is installed at altitudes exceeding 2,000 feet above sea
level, the input must be reduced by 4 percent for each 1,000 feet above sea level.

Example: STSp80 installed at 4,000 feet altitude;

Normal Input Rate 80,000 BTUHLess

16% for 4,000 feet above sea level 12,800 BTUH

Reduced input for 4,000 feet altitude 67,200 BTUH

For correct size orifice, refer to altitude orifice conversion chart on page 36. Please call
your local heating parts supplier and/or gas company for orifices in your area.

WARNING

DO NOT alter the installed orifice in any manner.
Improper alteration could result in Carbon Monoxide
poisoning and possible death. If the orifice must be
changed or cleaned contact a professional gas heating
equipment service person.

IMPORTANT: Do not install the thermostat or sensors in the direct
radiant stream.
