3 Setting up the sample changer as an RS-232
device
Although the 898 XYZ Sample Changer is connected to the computer
with a USB cable, this is listed in tiamo
™ as a serial RS-232 device. This
requires the configuration of the data transfer parameters.
The parameters of the data transfer between the 898 XYZ Sample
Changer and the PC must match on the two devices.
Proceed as follows:
1 Register the 898 XYZ Sample Changer in tiamo
￭ Start the tiamo ® PC software.
￭ Click on the symbol Configuration.
￭ In the device table, click on [Edit] and select New...
￭ Under Miscellaneous, select the device type RS 232 device
and click on [OK].
The Properties window of the RS-232 device is displayed.
￭ Under Device name, enter the name 898 XYZ SC.
