5/15/06

Great Plains Mfg., Inc.

Models 2410 and 2420
Initially adjust drill so opener tube runs 21 inches above
ground when drill is lowered in field. See Figure 1-6.

Figure 1-6

Initial Operating Height

To adjust:

1.

Loosen jam nut (1) near top clevis of each gauge-
wheel turnbuckle. Refer to Figure 1-7.

NOTE: Jam nut is left-hand threaded.

2.

Bolt upper clevis in lower hole as shown in Figure 1-7.

3.

Set turnbuckle length. Turn turnbuckle to shorten or
lengthen as necessary. Initially set length to 17 9/16
inches between pin centers to achieve the 21-inch di-
mension mention above. When adjusting the turn-
buckle length, remember:

Lengthening turnbuckle raises drill.

Shortening turnbuckle lowers drill.

4.

After adjusting both turnbuckles to the same length,
tighten jam nuts.

5.

Level drill with top three-point link. When drill is level,
opener tube will be higher than opener body with par-
allel links running slightly uphill. See Figure 1-8.

The 1- to 1 1/2-inch dimension shown in Figure 1-8 is
a general dimension that will vary with planting condi-
tions.

IMPORTANT: Make sure the opener mount is running
higher than the opener body. This will ensure an ample
reserve for opener upfloat in case the opener strikes a
rock or other object.
