Introduction

You do not need to install the operating system as it is pre-installed.
However, you need to perform the final steps to complete the installation
and configuration of the solution. For more information, see "Completing
the Configuration" on page 23.

Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003

The Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 operating system is
configured to provide the following functionality:

Optimal performance for Network File System [NFS], Common
Internet File System [CIFS], and File Service

Support for Microsoft iSCSI Software Target to provide block storage
services in addition to file-level services

Significant enhancements in share and storage management scenarios,
as well as integration of storage server management components and
functionality

Supported Editions

Dell supports the following editions of the Windows Unified Data Storage
Server 2003 operating system:

Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition

Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition

NOTE:

The Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition

operating system supports a multiple-node cluster environment.

NOTE:

The Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003, Enterprise x64 Edition

supports the x64-based versions of PowerVault NX1950 management console
snap-ins only and not the 32-bit versions.
