To remove a memory expansion card (MEC), perform the following steps.

1. Remove the computer cover according to the instructions in "

Computer Cover

."

2. Rotate the green memory expansion card cover up until it detaches the MEC from its socket (see

Figure 30

). Pull the MEC from the system.

If required, repeat this step for the other MEC.

3. Lay the MEC on a flat surface. Locate the plastic securing clips and press them outward simultaneously until they snap open and the memory

module disengages and pops out slightly from the socket.

To reinstall memory, perform the following steps.

CAUTION: Before you remove the computer cover, see "

."

CAUTION: To avoid the possibility of electric shock, turn off the computer and any peripherals, disconnect them from their
electrical outlets, and then wait at least 5 seconds before you remove the computer cover.

CAUTION: The memory modules can get extremely hot during system operation. To avoid dangerous burns, be sure that the
modules have had sufficient time to cool before you touch them.
