The system board's BIOS chip contains the Service Tag, which is also visible on a barcode label on the bottom of the computer. The replacement kit for the
system board includes a CD that provides a utility for transferring the Service Tag to the replacement system board.

Remove the hard drive (see

Remove the optical drive (see

4.

Remove the WLAN card, if applicable (see

5.

Remove the WWAN card, if applicable (see

6.

Remove the Flash Cache Module, if applicable (see

7.

Remove the modem, if applicable (see

8.

Remove the internal card with Bluetooth Wireless technology, if applicable (see

9.

Disconnect the cable for the internal card with Bluetooth Wireless technology from the system board.

Remove the keyboard cover (see

Remove all memory modules (see

Remove the palm rest (see

17.

Remove the IO panel and speaker connectors from the system board.
