Removing the Coin-Cell Battery

 

1.

Follow the procedures in

Before You Begin

.


 

2.

Turn the computer over.

 

3.

Loosen the captive screws on the coin-cell battery cover and remove the cover.

 

4.

Remove the modem (see

Modem

).

 

5.

Lift the coin-cell battery up and off the system board.

 

6.

Remove the tape securing the coin-cell battery to the system board.

 

7.

Disconnect and remove the coin-cell battery cable from the power connector on the system board.

 

Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery

 

1.

Connect the coin-cell battery cable to the system board.

 

2.

Place the coin-cell battery on the system board in the location marked

.


 

3.

Replace the modem (see

Modem

).


 

4.

Replace the cover and tighten the captive screws.

CAUTION:

Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE:

To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface

(such as a connector on the back of the computer).

NOTICE:

To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the

computer.

NOTE:

The coin-cell battery is secured to the system board with double-sided tape.
