5.

Gently slide the drive into place until you hear a click or feel the drive securely installed.

 

6.

Attach the power and data cables to the floppy drive or Media Card Reader.

 

7.

Connect the other end of the data cable to the system board connector labeled "FLOPPY" (for a floppy drive) or "FLEXBAY" (for a Media Card Reader). To

System Board Components

.

 

8.

Replace the desktop drive retainer insert and fold the handle down.

 

9.

Check all cable connections, and fold cables out of the way to provide airflow for the fan and cooling vents.

 

10.

11.

12.

Connect your computer and devices to their electrical outlets, and turn them on.

See the documentation that came with the drive for instructions on installing any software required for drive operation.

 

13.

Enter system setup (see

Entering System Setup

) and select the appropriate Diskette Drive (for a floppy drive) or USB (for a Media Card Reader) option.



 

14.

Verify that your computer works correctly by running the Dell Diagnostics (see

Dell Diagnostics

).
