Removing the Processor

NOTE:

1.

Follow the procedures in

Before Working Inside Your Computer

.

2.

Remove the

front panel

.

3.

Remove the

internal panel

.

4.

Remove the

I/O cover

.

5.

Remove the

hinged stand

.

6.

Remove the

optical drive

.

7.

Remove the

back cover

.

8.

Remove the

back metal-shield

.

9.

Remove the

system-board shield

.

10.

Remove the

heat sink

.

11.

Release the processor cover:

a.

Press the release lever down and out of the tab that secures it;

b.

Lift the release lever to release the processor cover.
  

12.

Lift the processor cover.

13.

Carefully lift the processor straight up from the processor socket and place it on a clean, flat surface.

Replacing the Processor

To replace the processor, perform the above steps in reverse order.
