To prevent sound from skipping
(SUPER ESP)

The SUPER ESP (Super Electronic Shock

Protection) function prevents the sound
from skipping by using a buffer

memory that stores music data for
about 10 seconds. Use this function
when listening playing in a car or

during a w¿Ik.

1 Press MODE repeatedly until the

"ESP" indication appears.

2 Press SELECT repeatedly until

"SUPE^ ^S/" appears.

To cancel the SUPER ESP function,
press SELECT repeatedly until no ESP
mode indication is displayed.

When using the remote control:
Press MODE, and select "ESP" by
pressing A and V. Then select "SUPER
ESP" by pressing ► and ◄ , and press
TRANSMIT.

Notes
•Playing may stop when the Discman gets

a strong shock even when the SUPER ESP
function is on.

• When you record a CD on a cassette tape

using a tape recorder that has a blank
search function, cancel the SUPER ESP
function.

•If you hear a noise or sound skip when:

- listening to a dirty or scratched CD,
- listening to an audio test CD or,
- the Discman receives continuous shock,

set the SUPER ESP function to off.

•Sound may skip if you set the SUPER ESP

function to on during play.

To lock the buttons and the lid

You can lock your Discman and the lid
to prevent accidental operation.

Slide HOLD/LOCK in the direction of
the arrow.
When you press any button,

”Hol d"

appears.

You can still operate the unit with the
operation buttons on the remote control.

To unlock, slide HOLD/LOCK back.

Note

•The lid may open accidentally caused by

continuous jarring or bumpinb in the car.
Make sure to lock the lid when using this
unit in the car.
