To install CLIMs in a UCS 1000 or UCS 1001 chassis, you must use a Model 1230 Bus Access
Module (BAM); however, you can install CLIMs directly in a UCS 1002 or Model 1030 Enclosure.
See Figure 2.

The UCS 1000 Chassis can hold up to 15 model 1230 BAMs with up to two CLIMs per BAM.
This allows a total of 30 L312 CLIMs per UCS 1000.

The UCS 1001 Chassis can hold up to two model 1230 BAMs with up to two CLIMs per BAM.
This allows a total of 4 CLIMs per UCS 1001.

The UCS Model 1002 Chassis directly hosts up to 14 CLIMs, or 13 CLIMs with the optional
Domain Management Module (DMM) installed.

The Model 1030 Standalone Enclosure holds one CLIM.
All CLIMs are hot swappable; they can be inserted or removed at any time without disrupting the data
transfer of other modules in the chassis.
Note: The Chassis Interconnect Module (CIM) must be present in the UCS 1000 or 1002 chassis in
order for the DMM to recognize the L312 modules.
