Installing CanogaView EMS for Solaris is a two-step process. The Core Services must be

installed first, followed by the Report Server.

PART 1: INSTALLING THE CORE SERVICES

Installation for the Core Services is comprised of a 13 step procedure that is controlled by the
installation program. Each step must be completed thoroughly and consecutively in order for proper
installation.

STEP 1

BEGIN INSTALLATION

In the login screen, login as the root user and click OK.

Locate and execute the file core-install-solaris that is located in the directory csem-core-
2.0 on the Installation CD.

When the Information window appears, click Next.

STEP 2

LICENSING AGREEMENTS

Review the licensing agreements. You must accept the licensing terms to continue, then click
Next.

STEP 3

EXISTING INSTALLATION CHECK

This is an internal procedure that checks to verify that an existing CanogaView EMS Core is not
already installed.

STEP 4

TARGET PATH

The Target Path window appears, displaying the default location where CanogaView EMS Core will
be installed. Should you require a different location, use the Browse button. When finished, click
Next.

If the directory in which you will install CanogaView EMS Core files does not already exist, a
popup appears indicating that the directory will be created. Note the location where you install
this package, as you will require this information should there be need to uninstall it at a later
time.
Click OK to continue.

STEP 5

JDK PATH

The JDK Path window appears.
If you know that you have the proper version of JDK 6 (1.6.0) or greater on your system, you can
use the Browse button to locate it and display it’s installation path.
Click Next to continue.

If you do not have the proper version already installed:

Click the Install button. A Progress popup appears indicating that files are being
extracted.

The JDK Installer window appears and begins installation.

When JDK installation is finished, the JDK Installer window asks you to press Return
(Enter). This will close the JDK Installer window. A Message popup should appear indi-
cating that JDK installation was successful.

You must now use the Browse button to locate the JDK that was installed. Navigate to
usr/jdk and highlight jdk1.6.0_05 then click Open. The location of the JDK now
appears in the installation path.

Click Next to continue.

STEP 6

JDK PATH (WINDOWS ONLY)

This step will be skipped during the Solaris installation.
