General printing problems

Problem

Solution

The printer does not operate by

pressing the button on the operator
panel.

• Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer

on.

It cannot print from software
application.

1. Select Start-Settings-Printers from

Windows 95 task bar.

2. Click the PCL6 or PS printer icon.

3. Select File-Default Printer.

The printed data is not sent to the
printer.

• Check the printer cable connections {see

page 30).

• Check the printer port on your computer.

The test page is not printed.

• Check that all trays are properly loaded,

adjusted, and installed in the printer.

• Check that all covers are correctly closed.

Poor print quality

Problem

Solution

The dark or light vertical lines are

printed on the page.
Print is too light.

• Distribute the toner in toner cartridge.

• Adjust the “DENSITY” menu item setting.

• Clean the LSD and inside of the printer, (see

page 49)

The printed page appears dirty.

• Clean the bottom face of the toner cartridge.

Do not open the shutter or touch the green

drum surface inside the cartridge.

• Clean the internal black ribs of the printer.

See the Operating Instructions (page 108)
stored on the CD-ROM.

There are toner speckles.

• Print a few more pages to see if the problem

will correct itself.

• Clean the inside of the printer.

• Check the paper type and quality.

The printer drops letters.

• Check the paper type and quality.

• Check the printers environment.

• Install a new toner cartridge.

• Check the printer cable connections.
