Changes

1.1 TC/LP and TC/SP Merged

KCS Link Package and KCS Server Package are now merged into a single Kofax Communication Server package.

When updating a link, KCS Monitor (TCMon) is not updated automatically anymore. To install the latest KCS
Monitor, select it in the Common > Administrative Tools part of the setup.

1.2 EasyConfig

KCS EasyConfig is a tool designed to simplify installation, deployment, and configuration of Kofax
Communication Server.

The classic installation of KCS is still supported; in fact, many of the more complex installations still require the
classic, interactive way. However, some of the most important use cases of KCS are already covered by
EasyConfig.

This high-level procedure describes the general installation procedure:

1

Install KCS via EasySetup.exe. All KCS components supported by EasyConfig are installed in an unattended
mode.

2

Start EasyConfig tool from the Start menu.

3

Select which KCS components do you want to use.

4

Configure the selected components.

5

Use License Maintenance Tool to configure your licenses.

6

Save and deploy the configuration.

7

Start (or restart) the affected KCS processes to apply the changes.

1.3 Mail Auditing: Open Messages in Short Term Archive (SPR00069292)

The mail auditing feature writes audit log entries to the TCOSS short term archive. New with this release, TCOSS
can now audit opening messages from the short term archive.

The configuration flag for auditing short term archive is set in the system configuration, line 21, position 3:

short term archive auditing flags, 00 = inactive (default), 01 = audit message open

1.4 TC/Web: Changed Registry Locations

The registry keys for TCRT, TCSI, and TCTI are now located under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TOPCALL\TCWEB\.

The registry values for general trace settings are directly under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TOPCALL\TCWEB\.
