MAILBOXES
The TC-540 features three individual mailboxes.
Each of the three mailboxes has a
NEW
MESSAGE INDICATOR and an individual
outgoing message which may be customized for
business or personal use.
The TC-540 automatically answers calls with the
outgoing message from
MAILBOX 1 . To
leave a message in another mailbox callers
must press and the mailbox number
2 or 3 on
a touchtone phone during or after the outgoing
message. Callers may leave messages in more
than one mailbox by pressing and a mailbox
number (1, 2 or 3).

3 Lift the lid under the handset and press
OUTGOING MESSAGE
RECORD
. You will hear:

(located on the right side) at the
midpoint.
NOTE: The sound level is automatically
adjusted when the outgoing message is played over
the phone line.

Be sure the digital display is lit or
flashing.
RECORD OUTGOING
MESSAGES
The TC-540 has three outgoing messages, one
for each mailbox. To use only one mailbox,
record your outgoing message in MAILBOX 1.
To use two or three mailboxes, instruct callers in
outgoing message 1 (MAILBOX 1) to access
other mailboxes. A sample outgoing message
for MAILBOX 1 is as follows:
Hello, you’ve reached the
Newton’s. Press 2 for
Newton’s Tax Service. Press
3 to leave a message for Beth
Newton. Or leave a message
after the tone.

Repeat steps 1-7 to record outgoing
messages for other mailboxes.

After you finish speaking, press
OUTGOING MESSAGE RECORD
again. The TC-540 will play your outgoing
message.
