Your Vexilar Pro Pack system comes with a high quality sealed lead acid (gel cell) battery. In order to

insure maximum running time for your flasher and maximum battery life, you need to follow some
simple charging rules. The included charger is specifically designed for this battery. The charger is also
protected internally from reverse hook up and short circuits. As long as you follow these instructions,
you can expect many hours of use and many years of service from the battery.

To Charge the Battery

1. Plug the charger into a standard 110 VAC wall outlet. Make sure the charger’s light is on.

2. Connect the red charger clip to the positive battery terminal and the black clip to the negative ter-

minal. The charger’s light should turn off. This indicates that the battery is accepting a charge.

3. Let the battery charge until the charger’s light comes back on. Make sure you wait until it gets to

full brightness. If you disconnect the charger from the battery and the light gets brighter, the battery
is not fully charged. Charge times can range up to 48 hours for a completely dead battery. Do not
leave the charger connected to the battery for more than 48 hours after the light has come on to full
brightness.

Tip - For faster charges with automatic shutoff, see your dealer about the optional V-300 Charger.

4. Fully recharge the battery after each use. Be sure to charge it soon after you are done using it. However,

do not charge it when it is cold. Bring the battery indoors and allow it to warm up for at least one
hour before connecting the charger.

5. For battery storage, make sure it is disconnected from the system. Charge it every month or two to

insure that it maintains a full charge during the storage period.

Monitoring the Battery

The Battery Status Indicator attached to the handle of your Pro Pack is designed to allow you to see the
level of charge in the battery. The POWER ON light indicates that the battery is connected properly. The
meaning of the other lights is shown in this figure.

Notice that the charger and the sta-
tus indicator both have lights that
tell you when the battery is fully
charged. These lights may not
come on at the same time. Use the
charger’s indicator light as your
primary “charge done” indicator.
If you should ever use a different charger to charge this battery, use the Battery
Status Indicator light as your “charge complete” indicator.

It is important to note that percent of charge shown will vary with the temperature and battery load.
The most accurate reading will be shown when the flasher is turned off and the battery is near room
temperature.
