About the bird:

About the size of

a goldfinch, the male Indigo Bunting

is entirely blue, while the female is

mostly brown. Listen for the male’s

lively song during spring and summer.

Range:

Summers across eastern

North America to parts of N.M. and Ariz.

Although a

common sight along weedy roadsides

and overgrown fields, hosting an

indigo bunting at the backyard feeder

can be a special treat.
