4.3.1

Preliminary Checks

If the power supply displays any unusual or erratic operation shut the power supply off
immediately and disconnect it from the AC power source. Check all load, programming and
monitoring connections and circuits. Check the AC input for correct voltage and frequency.
Correct any problems found and retest the system. If no problems are found or the unit fails to
operate correctly upon retesting proceed with internal troubleshooting as described below.

4.3.2

Troubleshooting at the Operation Level

Use the guidelines in Table 4

–1 to ensure the DCS series supply is configured and connected

for default operation at the front panel. If you need further troubleshooting, please call
Customer Service.

Is power switch on?

Turn on power.

Is power applied to AC input?

Measure voltage on input terminals.

Is input voltage within
specified range?

Measure voltage on input terminals.
See Section 1.4.

Internal circuit?

Call Customer Service.

No output but the
display lights

Is J3 mating connector
installed with proper jumpers?

Ensure that J3 mating connector is
installed. See Section 2.5.

Is voltage control set to zero?

Turn Voltage knob clockwise.
Measure output with a DVM.
See Section 2.5.

Is OVP LED lit?

See Section 2.9.

Is S/D LED lit?

See Section 2.10.

Is REM LED lit?

See Section 2.11.

Is OTP LED lit?

Let unit cool. Check for airflow.

Output not
adjustable

Is unit in current limit mode?
(Red Current Mode LED lit)

Turn current knob clockwise to
increase current limit. Reduce load if
current is at maximum.

Is unit in remote mode?
(Green REM LED lit)

See Section 2.11.

Is unit at maximum voltage or
current limit?

Reduce load for lower voltage or
current requirement.
