4.2 Main Menu

A

Managed Switch Main Menu similar to that of Figure 3 (which will identify your

specific switch model and its MAC Address) offers the following options

:

System Configuration

(explained in Section 4.2.1)

SNMP Configuration

(explained in Section 4.2.2)

Performance Monitoring

(explained in Section 4.2.3)

Username and Password

(explained in Section 4.1.3)

Save Settings to Non-Volatile Memory (explained below)
Reset to Default Settings

(explained below)

Upload/Download Settings

(explained in Section 4.2.4)

Logout

(explained below)

Save Settings to Non-Volatile Memory will store any currently modified settings to the

non-volatile memory contained in the switch.

NOTE:

If the “Save Settings to Non-Volatile Memory” option is NOT selected after modifications have

been made, any modified settings will be lost when a power cycle occurs.

Reset to Default Settings will restore all switch settings to their factory defaults. This

will overwrite any previously stored settings in non-volatile memory and reboot the

switch software.
Logout causes the HyperTerminal session (or that of any serial-based terminal emulation

application) to restart and prompt the user for a Username and Password. After 5 minutes

of inactivity, the switch will automatically logout. Then the login screen will appear and

prompt “Press any key to log in…”. For as long as inactivity persists, this login screen will

refresh every 10 seconds.
