1. ASSEMBLY (Refer to Figure 13)

a. SINGLE-ACTING OR DOUBLE-ACTING INTRINSICALLY

SAFE ON/OFF TYPE

NOTE: Where lubrication is required, Vaseline or other
non-corrosive grease is acceptable unless otherwise
noted. Use sparingly.

1. Attach the spool valve (item 2) to the solenoid block

(item 1) in the location shown using the #4-40 screws
(item 3) and gasket (item 4) provided.

CAUTION: Tighten screws to no more than 15 in-lb
or breakage may occur. Be certain that the holes in
the gasket, solenoid valve, and solenoid block are
aligned.

2. Attach the solenoid valve (item 5) to the solenoid

block in the orientation shown. The solenoid valve has
a #10-32 threaded stud that engages a tapped hole in
the block. The center retaining ring (item 6) may be
loosened to position the electrical connector (item 7).

3. Lightly lubricate and install the four (4) straight and

one (1) tee air fittings (items 8 and 9), and tighten.
Assemble the

Z\zn" I.D. x 3Z\v" (item 10), Z\zn" I.D. x 2"

(item 11), and

Z\zn" I.D. x 3Z\v" (item 12) lengths of

tubing to these fittings as shown. The tubing is
difficult to remove and will not allow the fittings to be
tightened once installed.

4. Insert the three (3) #10-32 x 1

Z\x" socket head screws

(item 13) through the solenoid block from the side
shown (marked IS). Position the solenoid block
gasket (item 14) on these screws.

5. Attach the solenoid block and gasket to the angled

inside wall of the M.A.S. base using the three (3)
#10-32 x 1

Z\x" screws.

6. Connect the lead wire plug (item 15) to the connector

on the solenoid valve. Refer to Section III.B and III.B.2
for more information.

7. The air connection bosses on the outside wall of the

M.A.S. base, function as indicated in Figure 14. The
porting varies depending on the actuator action
(spring-return vs. double-acting).
