General Information

The Model 10439-102 Electrical Safety Barrier is used in GAI-Tronics Centra-Page communications
systems. This system provides industrial quality intra-plant communications in both hazardous and non-
hazardous areas.

GAI-Tronics Centra-Page system provides dependable paging and party line communications for rugged
and hazardous industrial facilities. Centra-Page features centrally-located electronics that provide
environmental protection and unitized amplification for easy maintenance. Standard Centra-Page
cabinets can support up to 30 handset stations and in most cases up to 60 paging speakers.

The listed handset stations, when installed with a corresponding Model 10439-102 Electrical Safety
Barrier in accordance with Control Drawing No. 72979, provides intrinsically safe communications in
Class I, Div. 1, Group C and D hazardous areas. One barrier is required for each handset station located
in a Class I, Div. 1, Group C and D hazardous area in a Centra-Page system.

In Centra-Page systems, barriers are not installed in conjunction with speakers or horn/driver
combinations: speakers and horn/driver combinations located in Div. 1 hazardous areas must be
explosion-proof and be installed with explosion-proof conduit.
