cutting blade collides with a solid object with the consequent
breakage of blade bushing pins (fig. 9). The mower will then
start to vibrate abnormally.
In order to avoid severe damages to your lawnmower, imme-
diately stop the engine when the above mentioned situation
takes place.
Wait until the moving parts have completely stopped, discon-
nect the high tension wire from the spark plug and replace the
blade bushing.

MAINtENANCE

ATTENTION: Never service or repair the mower until the
blade and the engine have stopped and you have discon-
nected the high tension wire from the spark plug.

Servicing the spark plug

Servicing the air cleaner
Please follow the instructions contained in the enclosed man-
ual supplied by engine manufacturer.

Adjusting the traction cable (Fig. 10)
After several hours of initial use, the traction cable may slacken
impairing traction.
If this occurs, adjust the cable as described below.
Turn the ring nut shown in figure 10 in the direction indicated
by the arrow. This eliminates slack and re-establishes opti-
mum working order.
It is now possible to tighten cable slack by movement on the
adjuster.
Your mower is correctly adjusted when traction engages when
there is 30 mm between the traction lever and the handlebar.

Crankcase oil change
1. Place the mower on a flat surface.
2. Start the engine and let it run for about a minute so that oil
flows better. Turn off engine.
3. Disconnect the high tension wire from the spark plug.
4. Remove the grassbag.
5. Drain the fuel tank in order to avoid possible spillage and
accidents (see “Drainage of the fuel tank”).
6. Tip mower on its left side and unscrew the drainage plug
under the engine. Empty the crankcase, allowing the oil to
flow into a suitable tray.
7. When the crankcase is completely empty, fill the crankcase
with clean SAE 10W-30 oil (0,6 l).
NOTE: Please refer to local regulations for correct disposal of
burnt engine oil.

Drainage of the fuel tank
1. Stop the engine and disconnect the high tension wire from
spark plug.
2. Unscrew the fuel tank cap.
3. Using a siphon, pump the petrol from the tank into a suit-
able container.

Blade inspection
The frequency of blade inspection depends on the working
conditions.
1. Make sure that the engine is not running and the high wire
is disconnected from the spark plug.

2. Drain petrol from the fuel tank (see “Drainage of the fuel
tank”).
3. Tip mower on its left side. Avoid rotating the blade when the
mower is tipped because starting problems may result.
4. Carefully examine the blade:
a) If the cutting edge has become rounded it must be sharp-
ened.
b) Check where the flat and curved parts meet and, if there are
any cracks or signs of wear replace the blade immediately.
ATTENTION: A worn or cracked blade can easily break dur-
ing use or pieces may break off, resulting in serious injury to
yourself or a bystander.

Sharpening or replacing the cutter blade
1. Turn the engine off and disconnect the high tension wire
from the spark plug.
2. Drain fuel from the fuel tank (see “Drainage of the fuel
tank”).
3. Tip mower on its left side. Avoid rotating the blade when the
mower is tipped up because starting problems may result.
4. Hold the blade firmly with a gloved hand and, using a span-
ner, unscrew the bolt and washer.
5. Remove the blade in order to sharpen or replace it.
6. Using a flat file, sharpen the top side of blade, maintaining
the original cutting angle. The blade will remain balanced if
the same amount of material is removed from both cutting
edges.
7. Check the balance of the blade by using a blade balancer.
An unbalanced blade will lean on its heavier side. If the blade
is not balanced fi!e more metal off the cutting edge of the
heavy side and check the balance again.
8. Install a sharp, balanced blade, following the above proce-
dure in reverse sequence (see points 4 and 5).
9. Tighten the blade bolt to 5,5 Kgm.
NOTE: A blade balancer may be purchased at any good hard-
ware shop.
In order to obtain best possible cutting results, we recom-
mend that you replace the blade annually in addition to
sharpening it whenever necessary.

Cleaning the mower deck
To achieve optimum cutting results and effective collection,
the underside of the mower deck and the grass discharge area
must be kept clean.
These models feature a special device that allows you to clean
the machine simply and quickly using a normal garden hose.
1. Fit your female quick-release connector onto the male con-
nector on the mower body, after making sure the connector is
free from any grass residue.
NOTE: Make sure that the hose is not trapped under the
body.
2. Turn the water ON.
3. Switch ON your mower following the instructions described
in the corresponding section.
4. Keep the safety lever pressed and do not touch the traction
handle.
5. Allow the machine to work “in neutral” for several minutes.
Grass residues will be detached due to the combined action of
the water jet and blade movement, leaving the internal parts
of the body perfectly clean.
6. After cleaning, switch OFF the engine, detach the water
hose and allow your perfectly clean lawn mower to dry.
