ENGINE WILL NOT START

Check water separator.

Clean water separator (p.

Take outboard motor to an
authorized Honda marine dealer,
or refer to the shop manual.

Fuel system malfunction, fuel
pump failure, ignition malfunction,
stuck valves, etc.

Replace or repair faulty
components as necessary.

Dry and install the spark plugs.
Start the engine with the throttle
open using the fast idle lever or
fast idle button.

Spark plugs wet with fuel (flooded
engine).

Spark plugs faulty, fouled or
improperly gapped.

(The water separator red float has
risen off the bottom of the bowl)

Water separator full of water.

Remove and inspect spark plugs.
